Location and Date: Centennial Park, Albany, 2024
Client: City of Albany & Fulton Hogan
This project is supported by Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries, City of Albany, Great Southern Development Commission, Albany Tennis Club and Tennis Australia.
The Project Brief:
The establishment of the Albany Regional Tennis Centre marks the merging of Merrifield Park Tennis Club and Lawley Park Tennis Club, uniting under the banner of the Albany Tennis Club. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive 16-court regional tennis hub within the Eastern Precinct of the Centennial Park Sporting Complex.
Harley Dykstra were engaged to complete a Feature Survey to enable design of the project to occur. This entailed measuring and documenting various aspects of the land to be developed, such as topography, existing infrastructure, vegetation, and underground services. Obviously the data from an accurate Feature Survey is imperative to the success of tennis courts - they do after all, have to be on flat and level land!
Progress Report:
Once the design by local engineering firm Stantec had been completed, Harley Dykstra were engaged by the principal contractor, Fulton Hogan, for the construction of Stage 1. This includes 6 new tennis courts plus associated infrastructure and should be completed soon.
